Battle System
Unlike previous versions, V3 will have (or rather "has") turn-based combat. When you challenge, or get challenged, and you accept, a new temporary map will be created (with the use of SwapMaps, to those who want to know), to which you and your opponoment will be teleported. And IE when attacking, the mob will run up to the other mob, hit, and get back to his position. When shooting a blast, a blast will be shot, etc. So it's not like what you see in most other games, "Your turn. Attack or do nothing?"

The enemy AI has been completed too, meaning that you can also battle NPCs. Just like you, they can use items, can run, can use attacks, etcetera.

Dying
This is precisely where I am stuck between two walls. I have absolutely no clue what to do on this subject. I'm definately not going to do the ol' same thing, walk a piece of path(snakeway), click on kingkai, and then get back to earth. But the problem is that I cannot find any kind of way of what to when loosing a battle.

What I could do, is that after having lost a battle, you have 1 HP and need to see a doktor or something... But a fairly recent article of Splattergome(Here, to those who want to read it) has given me other inspiration: Corpses, a load you can do with them... Lets say when you die, you have to do something that has yet to be thought of in Other World, but your corpse remains on Earth, where others can plunder all your contents...

I am not entirely sure about this, and I'd greatly appreciate every kind of feedback. Questions on the battle system are also welcome, of course.

What about having to collect the dragonballs when your dead IE:


You die!

KK/heaven/hell(whatever):Go back to earth and find the dragonballs to be revived,but becareful you only have (insert time limit here) to do it,so take this temporary technique,dragonball sense(or some other way to find them quickly).hurry!

then you get teleported to spwn and have to find the db's fast.

Again, I've been being lazy for quite some while... Haven't even thought about this issue since a week and a half, and I haven't done anything else: this needs to be finished before I can work on the next thing, I need to find to the key to this door so I can, well, get to the next door.

I found the key, somewhere in my My Documents folders(trust me, it's huge), some long-lost files, with all the things I planned for V3 around the time that V2 was a few months away from its release(yes, I actually wrote it all down). While reading it, I bumped into the part about dying. Duh. How could I forget? I would need Other World for when the player reallydies, according to the storyline. You will get killed multiple times in the game, when following the story, and you will have to do missions in Other World and all of the kind. So it was already reserved, dying. So I thought I'd just do that when you lose a battle, your HP and PL will be set to 1, and you will have to find a regenerator to cure yourself. Or eat(HP-cure), or drink(PL-cure) something, if you have one of the two in your contents.

Glooscap's idea on itself is good, I could have used it for V2, but unfortunately, it doesn't fit with what I have planned[EDIT: Perhaps it does: In order to get alive after the forced death, you need to find the dragonballs in the same way and circumstances as Glooscap suggested...].

Hmm, an interesting concept. So the "Other World" will only be used in cunjuction to the story line. Truely not a bad idea, and the graphics look great compaired to what they used to be. As for the Story/Quests go, i've been known around town to create an imaginative storyline so if you need any ideas, feel free to ask.

As for the Healing pods, what will it cost to use them? Will they be free, or have a heafty price? Maybe you can make a Bank Loan system so that when the player has to use the pod, he is forced to Loan from the bank. A little off topic but still on the mark. My offer to help code is still in so feel free to ask my for help, because "...even though a man may not need help, he may still NEED help." GL, and keep us posted, we still look at the forums every now and then Smile

Well, I've sorta reached the point where I have to start on the quest and storyline. I already have the base, but I'll be sure to ask you for subquests related to the story, because I absolutely have no idea what to do with that yet, I'll talk to you when it gets to that point. Smile

Well, you have your own house with an own healing pod. But when outside of your house, you can find them on random spots. But I'm still not sure if I should make the ones that are not yours free or not... Any thoughts on that?

If he has no money, he can loan. That'd be a good idea... But how to force them paying it back?

I'm actually still on the simple stuff, I have the base of the game done... The battlesystem, etc(just some details are left) - I think I can do it myself, but if I reach a point where it's just too much work for me, I'll ask you or Virgil, or both. Razz
